Tailored plans.
When the standard schedule doesn’t suit you, your doctor can change the dose, the interval or how it’s prepared.
What your doctor can change
Tailored plans are off-label. Most people are best on standard treatment.
| What changes | Standard | Tailored |
|---|---|---|
| How much | The licensed steps, in order, no sooner than every four weeks. | A dose between the licensed steps, or below the lowest one. |
| How often | Once weekly, exactly as the licence describes. | A longer gap between doses, or a shorter one. |
| How it is prepared | From the pen as supplied, at the strengths it provides. | The same dose, measured a different way. |
Who it suits
It may suit you if
- Side effects stopped you before
- A low dose works well for you
- You’ve reached your goal and want to hold it
- You want your appetite reduced, not gone
- You need treatment you can afford long term
Standard treatment is better if
- You have a lot of weight to lose
- You want the fastest result
Common reasons
Side effects
Nausea or tiredness ended a previous attempt, often during the step-up.
A strong response
You lost more, or faster, than was comfortable on a low dose.
Maintenance
Holding your weight often needs less than losing it did.
Wearing off
The last day or two before your next dose feel different.
Cost
You need a plan you can keep up for years.
Restarting
You’ve had a break and need to build back up.
Restarting after a break
After a gap, your dose has to build up again. Your doctor may use smaller steps between the licensed doses to get you back to your working dose.
We keep your record, so coming back is a review with a doctor who knows your history. Our thresholds apply to your highest BMI in the last three years. The thresholds in full.
Price
A plan at or below 2.5mg costs £109 per 4-week cycle, including the care fee. See all prices.
No trial has shown a lower dose gives the same weight loss as the licensed maximum. Tailored plans aim to help you stay on treatment, with closer review.
